The Refresh Initiative

The Refresh Initiative is led by Joe Steinke, leader of the Soul of the Shepherd ministry at Gracebridge Alliance, Inc. Joe is building out a group of vetted individual spiritual directors with decades of ministry leadership experience that will be the Guides for each specific Initiative client. These Guides are experts in accompanying individuals and groups through the Refresh journey.

STAGE 1 – REFRESH YOUR RELATIONSHIPS = $4,000

1. Customization – We start with a customization conversation with you, the team leader(s), that helps frame where your team is at, what your needs are, and how we can build a retreat experience that fits your needs.

2. Orientation – We then host an All Team Zoom Session to give an orientation to the Refresh Your Relationships Retreat.

3. Personality Consultation – We follow up with an offer to provide a variety of personality type assessments from which your team decides which one(s) you’d like to engage with, and then each team member would take.

We offer the following team personality consultations to choose from:

• Myers-Briggs
• Enneagram Types
• Strengths Finders
• Working Genius

The results will be collected by us. We would then prepare a team consultation from these results to be engaged as some of the first work done at the upcoming retreat.

4. Refresh Your Relationships Retreat – We then come and facilitate a full day – overnight – half day retreat working through the following 5 Sessions:

• Personality Type Consultation – Insights into the various ways each person is observing, interpreting and re-entering the world. Learning how this impacts team dynamics and relational health.
• Holding Space for One Another in the Presence of God ( 1 ) – Learning the art of Group Spiritual Direction.
• Holding Space for One Another in the Presence of God ( 2 ) – Practicing the art of Group Spiritual Direction
• Where Have I Been? Who Am I Becoming? – Personal Storytelling in an atmosphere of honor without judgment
• Communion & Commitments – setting the stage for foundations of safety and trust in the way the team will be with and for one another.

5. Follow Up – We then will follow up with an All Team Zoom Session to check in, debrief your experience, and forecast how to proceed.

STAGE 2 – REFRESH YOUR CULTURE = $4,000

1. Customization – We start with a customization conversation with you, the team leader(s), that helps frame where your team is at now, what your needs are, and how we can serve a culture refresh experience that fits your needs. This can be delivered in:

• 6 Zoom Sessions over 6 months
• Or a full day – overnight – half day retreat experience

2. Orientation – We then host an All Team Zoom Session to give an orientation to how we will be engaging this Refresh Your Culture experience.

3. Spiritual Direction – We help connect each team member to a trusted spiritual director.

4. Refresh Your Culture – 6 Sessions/6 months or Retreat

• Where Have We Been? Who Are We Becoming? – clarifying your Shared Story
• Who Are We to One Another Now? – clarifying your relationships with one another
• What Is the Culture of Our Team? – offering an honest evaluation of your culture
• What Are Our Shared Values? – clarifying the things that matter most to you
• What Are Our Shared Practices, Rhythms & Commitments – clarifying an annual calendar of the essential things that will honor your values
• What is Our Shared Rule of Life? – clarifying life-giving ways you will be with and for one another over time

5. Follow Up – We then will follow up with an All Team Zoom Session to check in, debrief your experience, and forecast how to proceed.

STAGE 3 – REFRESH YOUR DISCERNMENT = $4,000

1. Customization – We start with a customization conversation with you, the team leader(s), that helps frame where your team is at, what your needs are, and how we can build a retreat experience that fits your needs.

3. Rule of Life – Commitment Ceremony Planning – We will work with a few delegated members of your team to design a meaningful experience that marks your team’;s commitment to your shared Rule of Life. This will be a feature of the upcoming retreat.

4. Refresh Your Discernment Retreat – We come and facilitate a full day – overnight – half day retreat working through the following Sessions:

1. Rule of Life – Commitment Ceremony
2. Introduction to Corporate Leadership Discernment
3. Practicing Corporate Leadership Discernment
4. Keeping it Fresh – How do we live into what we’ve learned and who we’ve become?

5. Follow Up – We then will follow up with an All Team Zoom Session to check in, debrief your experience, and see if there is any other way we can serve your team in the future.

The Refresh Initiative can begin at any time throughout the year. We will work with your calendar to create a schedule that aligns with your leadership team’s preferences and availability. 

To facilitate the two retreats that bookend the Refresh Initiative, the Guides would travel to your location and spend 2 nights (one for each retreat). We would work with you to keep these expenses reasonable, but are likely to run between $750 and $1,250 for airfare, meals, ground transportation and lodging.

If your individual team members are not already working with a personal spiritual director, we provide a recommended list of trusted spiritual directors to offer individual spiritual direction for all group members throughout the 10-month journey. This personalized support is essential for individual transformation alongside the group work conducted in your team Zoom sessions with your Guide. To the extent some team members are not already under individual spiritual direction, there may be some incremental expense for them to do so. This would be separate from the Refresh package, and could be estimated to be around $75 per session.

While the Guides will execute the retreat sessions, you will host the logistics of each retreat, making the necessary arrangements as to venue and hospitality for each day.

We synthesize insights from these works into a gracious conversation that allows everyone to be heard, seen, and known, fostering honesty, empathy, and honor within your team. By engaging in the individual and group work highlighted in these authors’ writings, facilitated by a trusted Guide, you will experience the catalyst of team alignment for your ministry.
